Video of valley teen jumping off roof, missing pool goes viral
A 19-year-old from Phoenix tried jumping off her roof into the pool, but she didn’t quite make it. The entire thing was caught on tape, and the video is causing quite the controversy.
“I felt numbness to my whole body. I mean, the impact. Then I screamed and went to the hospital,” recalled Nicole, who did not want to give her last name.
Nicole said she broke both of her heels and hurt other parts of her legs.
“I guess I exploded my cartilage. So (doctors) have to puzzle-piece it back together,” she explained.
Nicole said she injured herself about a month ago, and posted the video to YouTube to show it to relatives in northern Arizona who kept asking to know what happened. Nicole’s mother then posted the video to the website GoFundMe.com in hopes of getting some help for her daughter’s living expenses during her recovery.
“It’s my mom. She meant well,” said Nicole.
“She didn’t want to see me lose (my home). She didn’t want to see my dreams go down the drain because I broke both my feet,” she continued.
However, after a backlash of negative comments, Nicole’s mother removed the video from GoFundMe.com. Instead, Nicole has licensed the video, hoping it brings in a little cash.
“If (a TV show) wants to make fun of me then they’re going to make fun of me. At least I get a little something out of it for bills. I mean I’m not working right now,” said Nicole.
