Running Errands On My Bike with a Broken Ankle
I needed groceries today and I was feeling pretty cute with my outfit so I decided to make a video showing how I shop with my NWB SLC and crutches.
When I graduated from an SLC to an LLC, I picked up this little 150 CC motorcycle.
The bike gives me a sense of freedom I have not felt in a long time. It is such an amazing feeling being able to get up and run to the store for stuff as I need it without needing help from anyone. Here in Vegas, I am LUCKY if someone even holds a door open for me. The treatment I get with rec casts is FAR different than my day to day struggle with medical casts and no help. But that’s okay. I don’t need help. I have learned how to adapt and survive and thrive even with all these circumstances.
I kinda look at my bike as a motorized wheelchair in a way. It’s a mobility aid that allows me to continue to live life as normal as possible. Such it has risks, especially for me. But it also is what makes it fun and thrilling. And while I am locked down in quarantine, unable to go on castventures, I am going CRAZY for excitement. So my little 5 minute rides in which I can show off my cast while feeling independent are making such a difference in my sanity at the moment.
