Staying at home is really hard, I know. I want to briefly share my story in hopes that it might inspire you during this very strange time. When I was 14 yrs old, on my birthday, I was hit by a car while crossing a crosswalk and my worst nightmare came through. Prior to this, I was scared to death of the hospital and having to stay in bed for any length of time. After this accident, I was lucky to be alive. I lost my kidney and my spleen. My femur broke in half. I broke my pelvis, my patella, my ribs, and fractured my skull. I lived in the hospital, in traction, for a full month. And not long after that, I was placed in a full body cast for 6 months. My cast began just at the chest, underneath my armpits, and cast all the way down my body. My left leg, which was broken, was cast all the way down to the toes. My right leg was cast down to the knee.. Before this happened, I never would have imagined that I would have been able to mentally and emotionally survive this. But I did. And I came out even stronger. So if you don’t think you can do this, I’m here to tell you that you can. Gather the strength. Please stay home. Keep others safe. Keep yourself safe. You’ve got this! You can DO this!
